Bengaluru police create child-friendly station rooms

To make police stations more people-friendly, the Bengaluru West Division police have launched a pilot project by setting up child-friendly rooms at three stations — Vijayanagar, Magadi Road, and Govindarajanagar. These rooms offer a safe, welcoming space for children who visit with their parents and also aim to educate families about child safety and crime prevention.

Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh said the initiative focuses on supporting vulnerable groups, including women, children, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities. The rooms feature comfortable seating, play areas, educational content on safety topics like good touch and bad touch, and creative artwork by local students.

Stations have also improved accessibility with wheelchair ramps and better waiting areas. Earlier, the city police introduced mini-libraries at stations to help visitors make use of their waiting time. The project will gradually expand to other police stations across Bengaluru, depending on space availability.
