Bengaluru gets three new DCP divisions
The Bengaluru City Police Department has announced the formation of three new Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) divisions, a move aimed at enhancing law enforcement efficiency and streamlining jurisdiction across the rapidly expanding metropolis. This decision aligns with the state government’s previous budget announcement and marks a major step in reorganising the city’s policing structure.
The three newly c”eated DCP divisions—Electronic City, Devanahalli, and North-West—will bring better administrative control and improve policing in densely populated and fast-developing regions. The new Electronic City Division has been carved out of the old South East Division and will cover areas including Koramangala, Madiwala, HSR Layout, Adugodi, Tilaknagar, Suduguntepalya, Electronic City, Bommanahalli, Parappana Agrahara, and Bandepalya. It will also include Women’s and Cybercrime (CEN) police stations.
The Devanahalli Division will encompass sub-divisions in Sampigehalli, Yelahanka, and Devanahalli itself, covering key areas such as Amruthahalli, Hennur, Bagalur, Kodigehalli, and Chikkajala. The division is expected to enhance police presence in northern Bengaluru, which has witnessed rapid urban growth.
The third new division, North-West, will include areas under Peenya and Kengeri sub-divisions such as Bagalgunte, Rajagopalanagar, Byadarahalli, Annapoorneshwari Nagar, Kumbalgodu, and Jnanabharathi. These regions are vital industrial and residential zones requiring focused law enforcement. With these additions, the Bengaluru police now operate through 11 DCP divisions, each comprising multiple sub-divisions with jurisdiction over local police stations, Women’s Stations, and Cybercrime units. The restructuring is expected to improve response times, administrative efficiency, and community safety across the city.
