Bengaluru experience’s severe rainfall and traffic disruptions

Published on

Bengaluru has been experiencing heavy rainfall over the last two days, with significant downpours continuing into Thursday. The weather department has forecast light showers and rising temperatures next week.

The rain caused widespread disruptions across the city. Several areas saw water flooding into buildings, causing inconvenience for residents.

In particular, the Kotanur Ganesh Temple faced a flooded overpass, and water entered the temple premises. Other parts of the city also saw similar issues, with underpasses filled with water, creating problems for pedestrians.

The weather department reported 6.5mm of rainfall on Tuesday, with Wednesday evening seeing heavier showers across areas like Humpeenagar (16mm), Vidyapeeth (25mm), and K.R. Pura (24mm).

While this weather is expected to continue for the next few days, the temperature is set to rise. The city will experience temperatures between 34-36°C with a low of 22-23°C. Additionally, the Outer Ring Road (ORR) near Marathahalli witnessed severe traffic jams due to the rain. With ongoing metro construction and roadwork, several streets have been closed, making even light rain a cause for heavy congestion.

Authorities advised avoiding this route during peak hours to avoid further delays. The recent heavy rains have caused significant disruption in Bengaluru, leading to waterlogging in various areas. Buildings were inundated, creating chaos for residents, while the already-congested traffic worsened due to roadworks and metro construction.

The weather forecast predicts sporadic rainfall over the coming days, with rising temperatures expected to intensify the challenges faced by the city.
