The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning across several parts of Karnataka, including Bengaluru, from April 12 to April 16.

Wind speeds are expected to reach up to 50 kmph, prompting a cautionary alert for residents. Bengaluru city is likely to experience light showers and cloudy weather over the weekend, with increased chances of rain in the evenings. The IMD has advised citizens to stay alert for possible disruptions due to strong winds and sudden downpours.

In addition to Bengaluru Urban and Rural districts, other regions expected to receive rainfall include Dharwad, Gadag, Tumakuru, Chitradurga, Kolar, Belagavi, Chamarajanagar, Hassan, Mysuru, Shivamogga, and Chikkamagaluru.

Thunderstorms with lightning activity are likely across these districts during the forecast period. City authorities have been alerted to prepare for any weather-related emergencies. With gusty winds and thunder expected, residents are urged to avoid sheltering under trees, secure loose objects on rooftops, and check weather updates regularly.

Traffic movement could also be affected, especially during evening showers. Commuters are advised to plan their travel accordingly. The IMD has assured that it will continue monitoring the weather and provide timely updates to help residents stay safe during the five-day rain spell. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has instructed its emergency response teams to stay on alert throughout the week. Officials have also advised construction sites and outdoor vendors to take necessary precautions to prevent weather-related accidents, especially in low-lying and high-traffic areas vulnerable to waterlogging.
