Bengaluru: Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) has teamed up with the Museum of Art and Photography (MAP) to transform Terminal 2 into a vibrant cultural hub, offering travelers an enriching artistic journey that celebrates South Asia’s diverse heritage. This collaboration aims to reposition the airport as more than just a transit point—making it a dynamic space for engaging with Indian art and culture.

Terminal 2, known for its architectural elegance, now features over 210 artworks by more than 60 prominent artists, with MAP curating interactive exhibits to deepen the cultural experience. Highlights include a digital gallery showcasing works by legends like Jamini Roy, Jangarh Singh Shyam, Jyoti Bhatt, Suresh Punjabi, and L.N. Tallur.

Travelers can explore Bollywood posters, lobby cards, and a short-film series offering intimate insights into the artists’ lives and creative processes. Key masterpieces such as S.H. Raza’s Universe, Jamini Roy’s Last Supper, and N.S. Bendre’s The Lotus Sellers are available through touch-based interactive displays, enabling visitors to engage closely with the art.

In a unique cultural touch, passengers can digitally light a traditional Indian lamp by scanning a QR code, symbolizing auspicious beginnings. The ‘Cumulus’ digital platform by MAP allows users to search, view, and share artworks from the museum’s collection. Additionally, the “Virtual Greetings” feature lets travelers send digital messages inspired by selected artworks.

Visitors can also shop at the retail zone, which offers MAP-branded home décor and lifestyle products, blending culture with everyday living. This initiative marks a new chapter in Bengaluru airport’s evolution as a lively cultural destination for global travelers.

As part of the cultural collaboration, Terminal 2 now features a dedicated exhibition titled “Bhuri Bai: My Life as an Artist.” This exhibit traces the artistic journey of Padma Shri awardee Bhuri Bai from the early 1980s to today. Hari Marar, MD & CEO of BIAL, said, “We are redefining transit through Bengaluru, enriching travel with culture, creativity, and connection through our partnership with MAP.”
