The Bengaluru airport is leveraging advanced technology at its recently opened domestic cargo terminal to enhance efficiency and ensure near-paperless operations. From using artificial intelligence to prevent pilferage to digitizing cargo movement, the airport aims to streamline logistics and improve real-time tracking for customers. The cargo ecosystem at Bengaluru airport is nearly paperless, supported by an air cargo community system that provides real-time tracking, said Satyaki Raghunath, COO of Bangalore International Airport Ltd. He emphasized that customers increasingly seek transparency in tracking their shipments, and the system enables seamless monitoring. Bengaluru airport recently achieved a record 40 million passenger traffic in 2024 and has been ranked in the 'large airport' category. Raghunath shared his insights after visiting the cargo terminal, which spans seven acres and has a peak handling capacity of 360,000 metric tonnes, expandable to 400,000 metric tonnes. Anil Kumar, CEO of Menzies Aviation (Bengaluru Cargo), highlighted the role of mobile technology in reducing paperwork. Since everything can be accessed on mobile devices, we minimize unnecessary printing. Technology is a tool to enhance efficiency and value for customers, he stated.
