BDA prepares for 30,000 site allotments in city
The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has announced a major update for those looking to purchase residential plots in Bengaluru. The construction of the prestigious Dr. Shivaram Karanth Layout has reached its final phase, and BDA is preparing to allot approximately 30,000 plots. However, a pending High Court verdict on land acquisition remains a crucial factor in the final allotment process. The development work at Shivaram Karanth Layout is about 60% complete, with the remaining construction expected to be finished in the next three months. If the court grants approval, the allotment process will begin this year. The layout, situated in North Bengaluru, was inspected in August 2024 by Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, who issued several directives to expedite the work. BDA Chairman N.A. Harris stated that most of the work is completed, with only minor tasks remaining. He assured that there are no major obstacles to site allotment, which will proceed once the court issues its ruling. Out of the 30,000 sites, around 17,000–18,000 will be allotted to farmers who contributed land for the project. The layout comprises various site sizes, including 30x40 and 40x60 plots. Compared to previous BDA layouts, land prices in this project are expected to be higher. Reports suggest that the price per square foot may be set at ₹4,900.
