The Adishakti Amma Temple, along with the Sapta Matruka shrines, located within the BBMP headquarters premises, was facing a financial crisis that had stalled its much-needed renovation. Responding to a request from the temple administration and priests, the BBMP Officers and Employees Welfare Association stepped forward with significant support.
The association handed over a cheque of ₹50 lakh to BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar Giri Nath. The contribution was made by the association’s president A. Amruth Raj in a formal event held recently. Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Tushar Giri Nath emphasized the need for unity among BBMP officers and employees.
He noted that the development of Bengaluru is a result of the relentless efforts of both officials and staff, and praised the association for balancing welfare initiatives with community service. President A. Amruth Raj highlighted the association’s broader mission, which goes beyond employee welfare to include social outreach.
He recalled various past initiatives including sending one lakh liters of water to Dharmasthala during a crisis, offering ₹1 lakh compensation to a family affected by a tree-fall death, and supporting a young acid attack survivor with medical expenses.
The association has also distributed relief kits during floods in North Karnataka, Kodagu, and Wayanad, and organized free health camps and environmental awareness drives. With the ₹50 lakh contribution, the association aims to revive the centuries-old temple, reaffirming its commitment to cultural preservation and social responsibility. Office bearers including Sai Shankar, K.G. Ravi, S.G. Suresh, Ramachandra, Manjegowda, H.B. Harish, Market Manjunath, Sridhar, K. Narasimha, N. Shivaprasad, and N. Harish Kumar were present.
