BBMP issues new property accounts

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has opened up the opportunity for property owners who do not have an account under BBMP. Approximately 5 lakh properties in the city are without BBMP accounts. Owners of these properties can apply online to obtain an account by submitting four crucial documents.

BBMP has launched a new website for property owners to obtain accounts without the need for intermediaries. BBMP’s special revenue commissioner, Munish Modgil, explained that many properties are transacting without an account, and some properties are outside the tax net. He added that the online process would be smooth and automated. For property owners who already have a BBMP account and want an e-account, they are advised not to apply again, as attempts to create fake accounts could lead to criminal charges. The new system allows citizens to directly apply online, making the process more streamlined and efficient. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has directed the completion of the e-account distribution process for properties under local bodies by February 10, as part of efforts to regulate unauthorized properties and enhance property tax collection. Visit the new BBMP website for more information and to apply: BBMP New Khata.

The key documents required are:

·       Aadhaar number of the property owner

·       Sale/registration certificate number

·       Photograph of the property

·       Property debenture certificate (issued on or after December 31, 2024)
