BBMP introduces mandatory e-Khata registration for immovable properties

BBMP launches online system for seamless property registration, reducing in-person visits

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has made it mandatory for all immovable property registrations in the city to be done through the e-Khata system. This new initiative eliminates the need for citizens to visit the office in person, allowing them to complete the process from the comfort of their homes. Citizens can now apply for e-Khata online by submitting the required documents through the BBMP’s official portal.

The BBMP has made it clear that there is no rush to complete the registration, as citizens can download a draft e-Khata, submit additional information online, and later obtain the final e-Khata at their convenience. For those who need the final e-Khata urgently, the municipal helpline is available to expedite the process. The e-Khata can be accessed through the website https://BBMPeAasthi.karnataka.gov.in, where citizens can find instructional videos to guide them through the registration process. Essential information such as the registered deed number, property tax SAS number, and Aadhaar for eKYC verification will be required for the application.

For vacant sites, the BESCOM 10-digit number is optional. In cases where citizens lack Aadhaar, they can still apply for e-Khata by submitting alternative identification documents such as a driving license, passport, or voter ID card at the office of the Assistant Revenue Officer. While additional documents may be requested, they are not mandatory for registration. The BBMP’s new system aims to streamline the registration process and provide greater convenience to Bengaluru residents.
