BBMP introduces e-Khata service to boost revenue in Bengaluru

BBMP’s new initiative allows Bengaluru residents to earn ₹45 per e-Khata registration while improving property tax compliance and documentation efficiency.

Bengaluru residents now have an opportunity to generate additional income through the E-Khata service introduced by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). This initiative aims to streamline property documentation and bring more properties under the tax framework.

However, BBMP has acknowledged challenges in issuing E-Khata due to the increasing demand. Currently, Bengaluru has over 24 lakh properties, and the BBMP has made it mandatory to issue digital property records (E-Khata). Despite this, only about 50% of the properties have been registered under this system. To accelerate the process, BBMP has introduced a new initiative allowing citizens to participate in E-Khata registrations and earn money. Under this scheme, individuals can register as local entrepreneurs with BBMP and assist property owners in obtaining E-Khata. For every successful registration, BBMP will pay ₹45.

This initiative, introduced under the guidance of Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister D.K. Shivakumar, aims to make E-Khata more accessible while creating income opportunities for local residents. BBMP officials have encouraged interested individuals to register online and offer E-Khata services. This move is expected to improve tax compliance, prevent irregularities in property transactions, and ensure better property management in Bengaluru. With this initiative, both property owners and service providers stand to benefit, making property documentation more efficient and accessible across the city.
