In a major revenue recovery drive, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) sealed 830 non-residential buildings for failing to pay property taxes. Special Commissioner for Revenue, Munish Moudgil, led the operation, targeting properties across the BBMP’s eight zones. The move aims to recover long-pending dues efficiently by enforcing stricter measures against defaulters. According to Moudgil, the sealing operation began on January 1 and has gained momentum, with 182 properties locked in just the last 24 hours. Officials have been instructed to ensure prompt tax recovery by taking legal action, including property seizures and auctions, against persistent defaulters. In a parallel development, BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar Girinath issued directives to penalize those dumping debris along roadsides, especially in the RR Nagar Zone. During a public grievance session under the “Chief Commissioner Walk Zone” initiative, citizens voiced concerns about debris piles causing inconveniences in the Ideal Homes area. Following this, BBMP marshals conducted inspections and initiated penalties against violators. Additionally, the BBMP is taking action to curb unethical activities reported in KE Park, Anjana Nagar. Joint operations with the police have been planned to bring the situation under control and ensure public safety. The BBMP’s aggressive approach toward tax collection and civic enforcement reflects its commitment to improving urban governance.

INTRO: BBMP intensifies efforts to improve urban governance through targeted actions on property tax defaulters and civic issues.
