BBMP announces 5% rebate on property tax payments until April 30

In a major relief to property owners, the Karnataka government and the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) have announced a 5% rebate on property tax payments for the financial year 2025–26.

Property owners who pay their full property tax dues by April 30, 2025, will be eligible for this discount. This decision follows an impressive increase in tax collections from Bengaluru in the previous financial year. BBMP collected over ₹4,930 crore in property taxes—₹1,000 crore more than the previous year.

Encouraged by this surge in revenue, authorities decided to reward timely taxpayers with a significant discount. Urban Development Minister D.K. Shivakumar stated that the initiative is aimed at encouraging citizens to make timely payments and ease the pressure on civic finances.

The rebate will apply to those who clear their full annual tax liability by the specified deadline. Property owners can conveniently make payments online through the official BBMP tax portal: http://bbmptax.karnataka.gov.in.

BBMP officials confirmed that the offer is valid only for this financial year and urged citizens to take advantage of it before the April 30 deadline. Timely payments also help BBMP invest in better civic infrastructure and services for the city. The rebate has been welcomed by property owners across Bengaluru, especially in residential zones where annual tax amounts are substantial.

Many citizens believe this initiative will not only improve compliance but also foster trust in the administration. BBMP officials are hopeful it will further boost revenue in the upcoming years.
