Bamul president D.K. Suresh hits out at political rivals, welcomes AAP leaders to Congress
D.K. Suresh, president of the Bengaluru Milk Union (Bamul), stirred political waters on Wednesday by stating that his elevation to the post has become “unpalatable” to some corrupt politicians, even as it has brought joy to farmers.
Speaking at a Congress workers’ meeting in Rajarajeshwari Nagar (RR Nagar), which also saw the induction of several Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders into the Congress fold, Suresh said, “Some corrupt politicians find it difficult to accept me as Bamul president. But farmers are happy. Though I was initially reluctant, local MLAs and ministers backed me for the post.”
The event was organized by the Congress unit of the RR Nagar Assembly constituency and was attended by a large number of party workers and leaders. Suresh urged Congress cadres to focus on solving people’s problems rather than internal disputes.
“Workers must stand with the people and ensure they get justice. Don’t fight amongst yourselves. If you have any issues, bring them to me — I will resolve them,” he said.
Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) spokesperson H. Kusuma, who also addressed the gathering, advised party members to deliver government benefits to the common people. “Stop categorizing people as old or new Congress. Our focus should be on serving the people,” she said.
Bengaluru West District Congress president Hanumantharayappa presided over the event. Former BBMP corporators B.R. Nanjundappa, Manjula Narayanaswamy, Velunayakar, H.S. Siddegowda, and Asha Suresh were present.
