In a heart-wrenching incident, Yelahanka Police have arrested a 23-year-old auto-rickshaw driver for allegedly helping a minor dispose of her deceased newborn baby in a garbage dump. The accused, a resident of Yelahanka, has been booked under the POCSO Act and remanded to judicial custody.

According to the police, the accused had been in a relationship with the minor girl for the past two years. During this period, he allegedly impregnated her.

The girl gave birth to a baby 10 days ago, but the infant reportedly died due to respiratory complications shortly after birth. Following the child’s death, the minor placed the body in a garbage bag. The accused then handed over the bag, containing the infant’s body, to a neighbor under the pretense of regular household waste.

The unsuspecting neighbor later dumped the bag in an open area near a private hospital. The shocking discovery was made after local authorities found the dead infant among the waste. CCTV footage led investigators to a person on a bicycle who had discarded the bag.

Upon questioning, the neighbor revealed he had received the trash from the accused. Subsequent interrogation of the minor girl brought the full story to light. Police have confirmed that a case has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and further investigation is underway.

The police have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities, particularly incidents involving individuals impersonating law enforcement officers. They emphasized that such actions undermine public trust and pose a serious threat to safety.
