Another rape case registered against BJP MLA Munirathna

A fresh rape case has been registered against R.R. Nagar BJP MLA Munirathna based on a complaint filed by a woman who identifies herself as a BJP party worker. The FIR has been filed at the RMC Yard Police Station in Bengaluru.

The complaint names Munirathna and his close associates — Vasanth, Channakeshava, and Kamal — as the accused. The survivor has alleged that a gang rape took place in 2013 at the MLA's office. She further claims that she was injected with a virus that subsequently led to her contracting a sexually transmitted disease.

In her detailed complaint, the woman has stated that the trauma inflicted by the accused drove her to attempt suicide.

According to the FIR, the survivor alleges that Munirathna and the other accused sexually assaulted her at his office. She has described the incident as not only a violation but also one that involved inhuman and degrading treatment.

The woman, who claims to have been associated with the BJP since 2013, stated that her troubles began when Munirathna allegedly had a prostitution case filed against her at Peenya Police Station, leading to her imprisonment. She claims that after being released on bail, she was again targeted and falsely implicated in a murder case through Munirathna’s associates.

On June 11, 2023, she was allegedly lured to Munirathna’s office at JP Park under the pretext of discussing the withdrawal of pending cases. There, she claims to have been forcibly taken in an Innova vehicle by two of the accused to the MLA’s office.

Brutal ordeal inside the office

In a disturbing account detailed in the FIR, the survivor alleges that she was stripped, assaulted, and gang-raped by Munirathna and his associates. She says:

"When I refused to sit on the divan as told by the accused, I was slapped. Later, they forcibly stripped me, threatened me with harm to my son, and then sexually assaulted me one after the other."

She further alleges that Munirathna urinated on her face and injected her with an unknown substance from a white box, which she believes caused a life-altering illness.

"He unzipped his pants and attempted to urinate in my mouth. When I closed my mouth, he urinated on my face," she stated in the FIR.

The woman also claims she was dumped in Ashrayanagar by the accused and warned not to reveal anything to anyone or face dire consequences.
