Anekal to join Greater Bengaluru: DCM DK Shivakumar announces major development plans
Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, DK Shivakumar, announced that Anekal Taluk is being considered for inclusion in Greater Bengaluru. Speaking at a public event in Hennagara Gram Panchayat, he revealed that discussions with local leaders like Minister Ramalinga Reddy and MLA Shivanna are ongoing. DK Shivakumar highlighted that a tender has been floated to supply 30 MLD of Cauvery water to Anekal.
Additionally, a Detailed Project Report (DPR) is being prepared for metro rail expansion to areas like Jigani, Anekal, Sarjapur, and Bannerghatta. He emphasized the Congress government’s commitment to developing Anekal and criticized the opposition for politicizing emotions while Congress focuses on real-life issues.
He pointed out that several welfare schemes — such as Gruha Lakshmi financial aid for 1.22 crore women, free electricity (up to 200 units), free bus travel for women, and unemployment allowances — have been launched for the people, contrasting it with BJP’s record. DCM Shivakumar also praised the administrative work of the Hennagara Panchayat during the COVID-19 crisis, calling it a model for the entire state.
He urged locals to support the Congress party in the upcoming elections, promising more developmental initiatives. Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar emphasized that the inclusion of Anekal into Greater Bengaluru aims to boost infrastructure, connectivity, and public services in the region.
Plans for metro rail extensions and increased Cauvery water supply demonstrate the government’s commitment to holistic development, ensuring better living standards for residents in the coming years.
