Ramanagara
An all-party meeting is scheduled for 10:30 AM on June 15 at Shivakumar Swamy Auditorium, Magadi town, to address demands for bringing the Hemavati Project’s water resources to Magadi Taluk.
The decision follows a pre-conference meeting held at Someshwara Temple premises, organized by the Taluk Activist Journalists’ Association and the Farmers’ Association. Leaders agreed on a united approach to resolve the Hemavati water issue.
They stressed that a collective struggle involving political leaders, Kannada organizations, and farmers’ associations is crucial to securing water from the Hemavati River. Ongoing resistance against the Tumkur-Hemavati Express Canal project was highlighted as a key challenge to overcome for obtaining the region’s water share.
Leaders also emphasized the importance of completing the Sri Rang Aet irrigation project, which aims to fill 63 tanks across the taluk, to improve irrigation and agriculture.
The upcoming comprehensive all-party meeting aims to send a strong message to the government and opponents of the Hemavati project in Tumkur, urging swift action on water distribution.
Key invitees include MLA Balakrishna, MP Dr. C.N. Manjunath, former MP D.K. Suresh, ex-MLA A. Manjunath, senior BJP leaders A.H. Basvaraju and Prasad Gowda, social worker K. Bagegowda, H.M. Krishnamurthy (President of Kempegowda Development Committee), along with representatives of all local organizations.
