Kempegowda Airport adds child-friendly facilities

In a move to enhance passenger experience, Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Devanahalli has introduced new child-friendly facilities aimed at making travel more comfortable for families. Recognizing the growing number of young travelers, KIA has launched ‘Baby Carrier with Handbag Trolleys’ at both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.

These specially designed trolleys are tailored for children aged 2 months to 4 years, helping parents carry both luggage and their children with ease. The initiative is expected to greatly ease travel challenges for families, especially in the airport’s vast terminal spaces. The airport authority emphasized that this thoughtful feature reinforces care, convenience, and attention to every passenger’s needs.

In another development, Kannada has now been officially integrated into the airport’s communication platforms. Flight schedules, announcements, and signage are now available in Kannada, in addition to English and Hindi. This move caters to the linguistic needs of local travelers and enhances regional inclusivity.

Due to the rapid rise in air traffic, the Karnataka government has also begun groundwork for a second international airport in Bengaluru. The Airports Authority of India has inspected three potential sites, and a final report is awaited. Once submitted, the process will move forward with planning, approvals, and tendering. Officials say that with Bengaluru’s growing population and international connectivity, these upgrades are essential to maintain efficient and user-friendly infrastructure for all types of travelers—especially young families and regional language speakers.
