UP’s Dussehri mangoes exported directly to Dubai
New Delhi
In a historic move, Uttar Pradesh has directly exported its famous Dussehri mangoes to Dubai for the first time, opening global doors for the state's fruit growers. A total of 1,200 kg (400 boxes of 3 kg each) of mangoes were dispatched from Lucknow’s Mango Pack House to Dubai-based importer Vergro Trading LLC on Sunday.
The consignment, valued at USD 2,992, was flagged off by Dinesh Pratap Singh, Minister of State for Horticulture, Agricultural Marketing, and Agricultural Foreign Trade. This export marks a key milestone under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s efforts to boost farm exports from the state.
Three Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) trained under the Indo-German Agricultural Market Development (AMD) Project played a major role in this success. Among them, Irada Farmers Producer Company Limited and Malihabad Farmer Producer Company Limited secured their first-ever direct export orders independently.
"This export shows how our farmers are being empowered. We are committed to supporting them in production, packaging, and meeting international standards," said Minister Singh during the flag-off event. He added that the goal is to strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s position in the global mango market.
Also present at the event were Indra Vikram Singh, Secretary of Agriculture and Agricultural Foreign Trade, and T.K. Shibu, Special Secretary and Director, along with officials from CISH Lucknow and the Indo-German Project team.
This achievement is expected to inspire more farmers and FPOs across the state to tap into international markets, helping boost income and recognition for India’s rich agricultural produce.
