Shivraj Singh Chouhan to attend BIMSTEC agriculture meet

Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will participate in the third BIMSTEC Ministerial Meeting on Agriculture, scheduled to take place in Nepal on April 9.
According to an official statement, Chouhan will also meet with Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Agriculture and Livestock Development Minister Ramnath Adhikari during his visit. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) will be signed between India and Nepal to enhance cooperation in the agriculture sector.
The minister is also expected to hold a bilateral meeting with Bhutan’s Agriculture Minister Uten Phuntsho. Additionally, he will interact with BIMSTEC Secretary General Indramani Pandey to explore future collaboration opportunities in agriculture within the BIMSTEC framework.
The Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) agriculture meet aims to further strengthen regional cooperation in farming and allied sectors.
As per the official release, agriculture ministers from all BIMSTEC member countries—Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, and Thailand—will be attending. The meeting will include reviews of the current collaborative initiatives in agriculture and discussions on future projects to enhance food security, sustainable farming, and regional development.
