Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia met Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins and his team on Tuesday, urging them to expand their presence in India’s growing digital ecosystem. Scindia emphasized the country’s rich talent pool, rapid tech growth, and its crucial role in shaping the 6G and AI landscape.
During the discussion, Scindia encouraged Cisco to explore Tier 2 and 3 markets, boost cybersecurity initiatives, and co-develop grassroots solutions. He invited the company to increase investments in India’s digital sector, highlighting the nation's emergence as a global innovation hub.
In a post on social media platform X, Scindia said the goal is to build a secure, inclusive, and future-ready Bharat. He stressed the need for developing digital ecosystems that go beyond infrastructure and empower communities.
This meeting follows Cisco’s expansion in India, including the launch of its first manufacturing unit in Chennai in 2024, built in partnership with Flex. The facility is expected to generate over $1.3 billion in annual revenue and create around 1,200 jobs.
Scindia praised the manufacturing facility as a major step toward India’s self-reliance in telecom technology. He welcomed Cisco’s continued engagement to drive innovation and inclusive digital growth across the country.
The meeting marks another key moment in India’s mission to become a global leader in technology through strong industry partnerships and local innovation.
