The Multi Modal Logistics Park (MMLP) at Sindi near Wardha in Nagpur has officially started commercial operations, according to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. Built by National Highway Logistics Management Limited (NHLML), a 100% subsidiary of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the park received its first consignment on April 28—a rake carrying 123 Maruti cars from Farukhnagar. This marks a big step in improving India’s freight logistics.

The MMLP covers 150 acres and is being developed in three phases through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The total project cost is ₹673 crore, with Phase I alone seeing an investment of ₹137 crore. The agreement for development was signed with a private firm under a 45-year concession period.

To support this, an Authority Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) called Maharashtra MMLP Pvt. Ltd. was created. This SPV includes NHLML and Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA). It will ensure essential infrastructure like roads, rail links, power, water, and land for the park.

MMLP Nagpur will offer key logistics services such as warehouses, cold storage, intermodal transfers, container handling, and bonded warehouses. It will also include facilities for freight forwarders and truck terminals. Value-added services like grading, sorting, and customs clearance will also be available.

This logistics park aims to make goods movement faster and more efficient. It is expected to reduce transportation costs and improve delivery times while boosting regional employment and economic activity. With this, India moves one step closer to a modern and connected freight network.
