Modi government changed oil and gas sector completely
New Delhi
Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said the Modi government has changed India’s oil and gas sector in the last 11 years. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and programs like Digital India for these big changes.
Puri shared on social media that fuel stations, refineries, and LPG systems have become smarter using technology. Now, fuel stations use the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), making payments easier. Refineries use artificial intelligence (AI) and “digital twin” technology, which helps reduce downtime and increases production.
LPG systems also saw big changes. Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) has saved the government Rs 3.48 lakh crore. Most fuel stations are now automated, and stock is controlled digitally. Puri shared a video showing these improvements and how technology has made the oil and gas sector stronger and more efficient.
Another major step was opening up one million square kilometers of India’s 3.5 million square kilometers sedimentary basin for oil and gas exploration. Earlier, this area was closed. By opening it, the government wants to boost domestic oil and gas production and reduce dependence on imports.
The minister also mentioned new laws to help make it easier for companies to do business in this sector. These steps show the government's aim to support growth, encourage investment, and make energy more secure for the country.
Thanks to these efforts, India’s oil and gas sector is moving towards a more modern, self-reliant future under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership.
