India’s Global Capability Centres (GCCs) are now hiring more mid-senior level professionals, while entry-level jobs are going down. A new report by CIEL HR shows that entry-level roles dropped from 32% to 22%. At the same time, mid-senior roles grew to 77%, showing a 14-point jump.

This change shows a big need for people who already have skills in areas like artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and cloud computing. Companies want experienced people who can lead digital change without much training.

GCCs now pay more than regular IT firms. Salaries are 12% to 20% higher, especially for experts in AI, data, cybersecurity, and cloud. This shows how much companies value digital skills.

Also, more people are being asked to work fully from the office. In 2023, 51% of roles were office-based. Now, that number has jumped to 66%. Companies want teams to work closely together for better safety and control.

But holding on to talent is getting harder. Around 51% of GCCs say employee retention is a big challenge. Many workers want to switch jobs or feel less connected to their work. The report studied 76,000 profiles and found that 52% of workers are looking for new jobs.

India has more than 1,700 GCCs—almost half of all in the world. These centres now play a big role in India’s economy and tech growth.

To keep up, GCCs must focus on career growth, better branding, and a culture where employees feel valued and supported.
