Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has earned a Guinness World Record for selling the highest number of life insurance policies in a single day. This historic achievement took place on January 20, 2025, and was officially announced on Saturday.

According to LIC, a massive total of 4,52,839 agents successfully issued 5,88,107 life insurance policies across India in just 24 hours. Guinness World Records confirmed this as a global record for the most life insurance policies sold in one day.

LIC stated that this success shows the hard work, skill, and dedication of its agents. The company said the achievement is not just a record but proof of its strong mission to offer financial protection to people and their families.

The initiative was led by LIC’s Managing Director and CEO, Siddhartha Mohanty. He called on all agents to participate in the event named “Mad Million Day,” encouraging each agent to complete at least one policy on January 20.

Mr. Mohanty thanked all customers, employees, and especially the agents for making the day a grand success. He said it was a proud moment that showed the strength and unity of LIC’s vast network.

LIC believes this milestone sets a new global standard for agent productivity in the life insurance sector. The company continues to be a leader in the insurance market, not just as a business but as a provider of financial security to millions of Indian families.
