India climbs 11 spots to 49th in network readiness index

India has made notable strides in technology, improving its ranking by 11 places to secure 49th position in the 2024 Network Readiness Index (NRI). The NRI, published by the Portulans Institute, evaluates countries on their use of technology to improve governance, citizen engagement, and overall impact, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting announced the news on Saturday.
Highlighting India’s improvement not just in rankings but also in its overall score. The country's score rose from 49.93 last year to 53.63 in 2024, reflecting ongoing efforts in advancing digital infrastructure and research.
India's progress in fields like artificial intelligence, mobile networks, and broadband has been a driving force behind this success. The government's initiatives to enhance digital infrastructure and promote global research have strengthened India's position as a leader in technology adoption.
