Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri shared that India has made big progress in clean fuel use over the last 10 years. CNG stations have grown by 2,300%, piped gas (PNG) usage has gone up by 467%, and LPG connections have more than doubled.

These changes have made daily life easier for people and helped push forward the dream of a “Healthy India with Clean Fuel.” Puri said this progress is a result of strong leadership, hard work, and a new way of thinking. The goal is not just better fuel access, but building a cleaner and stronger India.

A report by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) said India’s use of natural gas is expected to rise by 60% by 2030. This shift is part of a larger plan to reduce dependence on oil and move toward cleaner fuel for vehicles, homes, and industries.

Currently, gas infrastructure is set up in 307 regions across the country, making natural gas widely available. The City Gas Distribution (CGD) sector will lead future growth, with gas demand likely to grow up to 3.5 times by 2030.

By 2040, gas use may rise over 2.5 times from today’s levels. The CGD sector’s growth includes gas use in homes, industries, and transport.

Minister Puri said these results are signs of a developed future. The country is building a cleaner energy path that will benefit both people and the environment for years to come.
