India is becoming a major hub for skilled professionals in artificial intelligence (AI), according to Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. Speaking at the GITEX Africa 2025 event in Marrakesh, he praised India's efforts in building a strong digital and AI ecosystem.

Chaudhary said that India’s success is a result of joint efforts by the government and the industry to promote AI adoption. He highlighted India’s Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), which includes Aadhaar for digital identity, UPI for payments, ONDC for e-commerce, and digital health services, as examples of transformative progress.

The minister noted that India is also integrating AI, cybersecurity, fintech, and digital tools into its skill development programs. One example is the Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH), which has already onboarded over one crore users in just 18 months. He said these areas offer great potential for partnerships, especially with African nations.

The three-day summit brought together policy leaders and tech innovators to explore collaboration for inclusive global growth. Chaudhary emphasized that India, with its rapid digital progress and open-source systems, could help other developing countries speed up their own digital journeys.

On the sidelines, the minister also held bilateral talks focused on AI, research partnerships, and digital growth. He shared India’s experience in building digital tools for public benefit and stressed how DPI can support inclusion, innovation, and fairness in global development.

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship said the meetings were productive and helped strengthen ties with global partners.
