Prime Minister Narendra Modi reaffirmed India’s commitment to a ‘Circular Economy’ and the P3 (Pro Planet People) approach at the 12th Regional 3R and Circular Economy Forum in Asia. In a message to delegates, he emphasized India’s willingness to share its experiences with the world in promoting sustainability and resource efficiency.

The forum, which began in Jaipur, saw participation from Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, and other dignitaries. PM Modi underscored India’s sustainability efforts through initiatives like ‘Mission LiFE’ and the ‘Panchamrit Goals,’ which aim for a net-zero future.

Union Minister Manohar Lal highlighted Jaipur’s long-standing traditions in sustainability, such as rainwater harvesting and handicrafts made from recycled materials. He announced the launch of the Cities Coalition for Circularity (C-3), a multi-nation alliance for city-level collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and private-sector partnerships.

“We propose forming a working group to finalize the structure and operational framework for this coalition,” he said. He also introduced the Jaipur Declaration (2025-2034), a non-binding commitment to guide sustainability efforts over the next decade.

The minister stressed that a circular economy is not just an environmental obligation but an economic necessity. India’s efforts include bio-CNG development, plastic waste management, and e-waste recycling, reinforcing its leadership in sustainable urban development.

The forum aims to strengthen cooperation between policymakers, industry leaders, and researchers, fostering a low-carbon, resource-efficient society.
