The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has started a special two-week campaign called ‘GST Pakhwada’ from June 16 to June 30. This is part of the preparations for GST Day, which is celebrated every year on July 1. The aim is to raise awareness about Goods and Services Tax (GST) and help taxpayers understand their duties and solve problems.

To make it easier for people, helpdesks have been opened in all Central GST offices across India. These desks will guide taxpayers on how to file returns and answer any questions they may have.

This campaign also marks eight years since GST was launched in 2017. It was a big step that replaced many taxes with a single one across the country.

Important changes in GST filing will also take effect from July 2025. The monthly return form, GSTR-3B, will become auto-filled and non-editable. Taxpayers must now correct mistakes in advance using GSTR-1A. This step is to make sure the information filed is accurate and prevent tax fraud.

A strict deadline is also being added. From July onwards, no GST return can be filed more than three years after its due date. This rule covers all returns like GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9, and others.

The CBIC has asked all taxpayers to check and file pending returns before these changes start. If they miss the deadline, they may never be able to file those returns again.
