Evren, Brookfield’s renewable energy platform in India, has signed a major agreement with state-run NTPC to deliver 300 megawatts of firm and dispatchable renewable power. The project will include solar, wind, and battery storage to ensure consistent energy delivery, especially during peak demand times.

Under the power purchase agreement (PPA), Evren will develop close to 1 gigawatt of renewable capacity. This includes building advanced energy systems that combine different power sources to create a steady and reliable electricity supply. The goal is to help power distribution companies meet both demand and clean energy targets.

The project is expected to assist in fulfilling renewable energy and storage requirements, helping India progress toward its clean energy goals. It’s designed to support decarbonization while improving the stability of the power grid.

Suman Kumar, CEO of Evren, said the agreement marks a major milestone in the company’s mission to support India’s energy transition. He highlighted the company’s active work on a large portfolio of renewable projects across the country.

Evren was formed through a joint venture between Brookfield and Axis Energy. The company now manages over 11 GW of renewable capacity, including 7 GW in mid- and late-stage development. This project further strengthens Evren’s role in India’s growing clean energy sector.
