India’s engineering goods exports have grown by 60 per cent since 2014, Union Minister Piyush Goyal said on Friday. He credited this growth to the ‘Make in India’ campaign, which aims to boost local manufacturing and exports.

“India on the rise! Since 2014, under @NarendraModi Govt., engineering goods’ exports have surged by 60 per cent,” Goyal shared on social media, highlighting the campaign’s success.

The growth in engineering exports comes as India’s overall industrial sector also performs better. According to the Ministry of Statistics, industrial production rose by 2.7 per cent in April 2025 compared to last year. The manufacturing sector alone grew by 3.4 per cent in April, up from 3 per cent in March.

Key industries like basic metals, automobiles, and machinery showed strong progress. Machinery and equipment manufacturing saw a huge 17 per cent jump, showing strong demand at home and abroad. Capital goods production also increased sharply by 20.3 per cent. These goods are used in building infrastructure and factories, which means more jobs and higher income in the long run.

Consumer demand has also stayed firm. Durable goods like electronics and home appliances rose by 6.4 per cent. Government spending on roads, railways, and ports helped the infrastructure sector grow by 4 per cent in April.

Overall, India’s rising exports and improved factory output suggest strong economic progress. The world’s growing interest in Indian engineering products supports this positive trend. The government hopes this will lead to more jobs, investments, and continued industrial growth across the country.
