The central government held a high-level meeting to review progress on major infrastructure projects in Jharkhand and several northeastern states. Led by DPIIT Secretary Amardeep Singh Bhatia, the meeting aimed to speed up work by improving coordination between ministries, state officials, and private partners.

In Jharkhand, 18 issues related to 11 big projects were discussed, with a total value of over ₹34,213 crore. One key project reviewed was the Patratu Thermal Power Station Expansion, which will generate 2,400 MW in its first phase using cleaner, supercritical technology. It will draw water from the Nalkari Dam and coal from NTPC’s captive blocks.

In Sikkim, two projects worth ₹943 crore were reviewed, while Nagaland saw discussions on two projects worth ₹544 crore, including the Kohima Bypass Road. This road will ease traffic, boost tourism, and connect surrounding areas better.

Assam had one ₹6,700 crore project under review, and Arunachal Pradesh had three projects worth ₹33,469 crore reviewed. This included the massive Dibang Hydropower Project, which will feature India’s tallest dam, produce clean energy, and help control floods. It’s expected to be ready by February 2032.

A private ₹1,000 crore project by GeoEnpro Petroleum in Arunachal was also reviewed. Officials urged the state to support the project and improve the ease of doing business to attract private investment.

The DPIIT Secretary stressed the need for quick action and stronger systems to solve project delays. The meeting showed the Centre’s push to improve infrastructure in tough regions and support India’s growth through better planning and coordination.
