Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Wednesday has extended an invitation to Japanese clothing brand Uniqlo to set up operations in the state, emphasizing its unique naturally-colored cotton and investment-friendly policies. During his visit to Japan, Yadav met with key figures, including Uniqlo founder Tadashi Yanai, to discuss potential collaborations.
Yadav highlighted Madhya Pradesh's strategic location, skilled workforce, and vast land availability as ideal factors for attracting international brands. The state is the only producer of rare naturally-colored cotton in India, which could be a significant draw for textile industries like Uniqlo. Yadav welcomed Yanai’s interest in replicating the model Uniqlo used in the U.S., working with small cotton farmers to scale production.
In addition to Uniqlo, the CM held talks with representatives from the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and Bridgestone Corporation. The discussions focused on boosting investments in sectors like technology, infrastructure, and automobile manufacturing.
Yadav's visit also included an invitation to JETRO to set up an office in Madhya Pradesh, further promoting the state as an attractive investment destination. The CM reiterated that the upcoming Global Investors Summit in February 2025 would be a key platform for forging stronger ties between Japan and Madhya Pradesh.
These efforts reflect the state's commitment to fostering industrial growth and enhancing its position on the global investment map.
