The Indian Cabinet has approved major projects to strengthen the country’s space infrastructure and support its workforce. On Thursday, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the approval of a Rs 3,985 crore project to construct a third launch pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. This launch pad will be crucial for future space missions, including the Indian Crewed Moon Landing and Gaganyaan. It will also enhance the capacity of the LVM3 rocket to carry heavier payloads. The new pad is expected to be completed in 48 months, positioning India to meet growing demands for space exploration.

In a separate decision, the Cabinet approved the formation of the 8th Central Pay Commission for government employees. Union Minister Vaishnaw highlighted that the commission will ensure timely revisions to the salaries, allowances, and benefits of central government employees. The 8th Pay Commission will begin its work before 2025, allowing enough time to finalize recommendations before the current 7th Pay Commission ends in 2026. This move is expected to benefit millions of employees and pensioners across the country, addressing their financial and professional needs.

These approvals reflect the government's ongoing commitment to advancing India’s technological capabilities and ensuring fair compensation for its workforce.
