Bengaluru has jumped seven places to rank 14th in the Global Startup Ecosystem Report 2025 by Startup Genome, moving up from its previous 21st position. This rise was driven by major startup exits, including Swiggy.com’s $12 billion valuation. The report was released at Viva Technology 2025, Europe’s top startup summit, and ranks global ecosystems based on factors like performance, funding, talent, and AI strength. Bengaluru is now also ranked 5th worldwide in AI and big data. The report highlights a shift in global innovation, with Asian and mid-sized cities gaining prominence. Karnataka’s IT/BT Minister Priyank Kharge said this recognition reflects the strength and resilience of Bengaluru’s startup environment. He noted that Bengaluru has always been a builder’s city, and its rise in the rankings shows how its startup ecosystem is achieving global impact. The city now stands alongside innovation leaders like Paris, Philadelphia, and Seattle.
