Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday said that the Advantage Assam investment summit, held in February 2025, has laid the foundation for the state’s transformation into a major growth hub. He called the summit a key milestone in attracting high-value projects to Assam.
“The summit was more than an event, it launched Assam’s journey toward becoming a multi-sector growth engine,” the Chief Minister posted on social media. He added that the Assam Cabinet has approved land for two major projects in Guwahati: a 500-bed Medanta Super Speciality Hospital and a 100-bed Women and Child Hospital. A five-star Lemon Tree Hotel will also be developed nearby.
The combined projects are expected to bring in over ₹800 crore in investment and create more than 2,700 direct jobs. CM Sarma described the developments as “PROMISES IN MOTION,” aiming to boost healthcare, tourism, and employment.
Officials believe these initiatives will not only improve access to advanced medical care but also promote medical and leisure tourism in the region. Guwahati is expected to emerge as a healthcare and hospitality hub for both domestic and international visitors.
Sarma also highlighted that sectors like hydrocarbons and mining attracted the largest investment interest during Advantage Assam 2.0, which secured investment promises worth ₹4.5 lakh crore.
He stressed the goal of making Assam an industrially developed state again, recalling its strong industrial base in 1947. With improved infrastructure, services, and opportunities, the state aims to attract more investors and transform its economy.
