Adani Enterprises Ltd has launched India’s first hydrogen-powered truck to support clean and green transportation. The truck was flagged off on Saturday in Raipur by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai. This hydrogen truck will be used to carry coal from the Gare Pelma III mine to a state power plant.

This truck can carry up to 40 tonnes of cargo and run for 200 kilometers. It runs on hydrogen fuel cells, has three hydrogen tanks, and is fitted with smart technology. The project is a joint effort between Adani Natural Resources and Adani New Industries Limited.

Adani is working with Indian and international energy experts and an auto company to develop these trucks, which will slowly replace diesel vehicles in mining logistics. The company aims to support clean mining and reduce pollution through such innovations.

Chief Minister Sai said the launch shows Chhattisgarh’s commitment to clean energy. He praised the move for helping the state reduce its carbon footprint while continuing to meet India’s power needs.

Adani’s plan includes more than just hydrogen trucks. They are also using solar energy, digital tools, autonomous machines, and special machines to move trees carefully during mining work. Hydrogen cells for the trucks will be supplied by Adani New Industries, which also makes green hydrogen, solar panels, and wind turbines.

Dr. Vinay Prakash of Adani Enterprises said the goal is to create “model mines” with very low environmental impact and ensure reliable and affordable electricity for everyone. This step is part of Adani Group’s larger mission to promote clean, responsible mining.
