Adani Electricity boosts FY25 anti-theft drive
Mumbai
Adani Electricity has intensified its crackdown on power theft, filing 1,166 FIRs in FY25 — up from 974 in FY24. This proactive approach has helped reduce Aggregate Technical and Commercial (AT&C) losses by 0.77%, bringing them down to 4.70%, placing the company among India’s most efficient power distributors.
A company spokesperson emphasized that power theft places an unfair burden on paying consumers, and Adani Electricity is committed to safeguarding customer interests through stricter enforcement. The firm plans to intensify its efforts in identified areas to cut losses further.
In FY25, the company carried out 37,424 mass raids — a 41% jump from the previous year. This included a 20% rise in FIRs, a 44% increase in odd-hour raids, and a 3% uptick in booked cases. These efforts led to the recovery of 60.90 tonnes of illegal wires and detection of theft amounting to 23.76 million units worth ₹44.92 crore.
Four major theft cases were uncovered, including:
A construction firm in Ghatkopar stealing power via meter bypass (₹40.5 lakh).
An adhesive factory in Andheri using unauthorized connections (₹51.09 lakh).
A printing unit in Andheri tampering with meters (₹32.04 lakh).
A gym in Govandi drawing extra power despite two official connections (₹38.36 lakh).
All cases led to FIRs at respective police stations. The company continues working closely with police to seize unauthorized equipment and prevent such offenses.
Adani Electricity reaffirmed its commitment to providing reliable and affordable power to Mumbai, while ensuring a fair and theft-free system.
