Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has declared that the “battle has begun” after Iran fired a hypersonic missile at Israel. This declaration comes as the deadly conflict between the two nations stretches into its sixth consecutive day on Wednesday.
Israel has launched heavy airstrikes on Iranian territory since last Friday. At least 224 people have reportedly been killed, including military officers, nuclear scientists, and civilians. In response, Iran has attacked Israeli targets, killing at least 24 people, including women and children, Israeli officials said.
On Tuesday, Israel confirmed detecting more missiles launched from Iran. The worsening situation has caught global attention. U.S. President Donald Trump left the G7 summit in Canada early and strongly supported Israel. He also warned people in Tehran to evacuate, expecting further escalation.
The war began when Israel launched a wide military operation to damage Iran’s nuclear and military capabilities. Iran quickly fought back, making the situation more dangerous and raising fears of a bigger war.
Meanwhile, efforts to restart nuclear talks between Iran and the U.S. remain uncertain. The fighting threatens to undo months of diplomatic work.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the public, saying the military campaign has weakened Iran’s nuclear progress. “I believe we have set them back a very, very long time,” he said.
This conflict marks one of the most serious direct confrontations between Iran and Israel in recent history. Both nations appear unwilling to back down, as the world watches with growing alarm.
