Brussels
An Indian Parliamentary team, led by BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, met with European Parliament Vice-President Christel Schaldemose in Brussels on Thursday. They exposed how Pakistan uses terrorism as a tool of state policy and discussed the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir.
The Indian Embassy in Belgium posted that the meeting allowed India to share details of Pakistan-sponsored cross-border terrorism aimed at disturbing peace in Kashmir and spreading communal tension. Prasad said it was a chance to show how terrorism is harming development and peace in the region.
The delegation urged the European Parliament to reconsider international aid to Pakistan, given its support of terrorist activities. Schaldemose showed sympathy for India’s position and condemned the Pahalgam attack.
The Indian leaders also explained Operation Sindoor, India’s targeted response to the attack. They said it shows India’s strong zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism.
The team met Members of the European Parliament and Brussels-based think tanks to discuss global terrorism threats and India’s anti-terror strategies. MEPs expressed support for the Pahalgam victims and praised India’s response.
They also spoke to Indian diaspora members, who supported India’s firm stand on terrorism and pledged to raise India’s voice abroad.
The nine-member team included MPs from BJP, Congress, AIADMK, and Shiv Sena-UBT, as well as former minister M.J. Akbar and former ambassador Pankaj Saran.
Brussels is the latest stop in their European tour, which includes visits to France, Italy, Denmark, and the UK. This diplomatic campaign aims to build global support against terrorism and highlight Pakistan’s role in cross-border violence.
