Malaysia has reaffirmed its commitment to global peace and cooperation against terrorism during a high-level engagement with an Indian all-party parliamentary delegation. The delegation, led by JD(U) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha, met with the Speaker of Malaysia’s House of Representatives, YB Tan Sri Dato’ (Dr) Johari bin Abdul, and briefed him on India’s zero-tolerance approach towards terrorism.

The Speaker expressed appreciation for India’s efforts and reiterated Malaysia’s stance on promoting peace and combating terrorism. The meeting comes in the wake of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives and heightened regional tensions.

The Indian delegation also held talks with the Parliamentary Special Committee on International Relations and International Trade, chaired by YB Wong Chen. Discussions focused on strengthening bilateral and regional counter-terrorism cooperation and addressing the threat of cross-border terrorism.

Additionally, the delegation met with the Southeast Asia Regional Centre for Counter-Terrorism (SEARCCT), led by Director General Datin Paduka Nur Ashikin Mohd Taib. The meeting emphasized India’s consistent position against terrorism in all forms and stressed regional synergy through SEARCCT initiatives. Key areas discussed included legal cooperation, counter-terror financing, community resilience, and studies targeting cross-border threats.

Members of the delegation include leaders from multiple Indian political parties such as the BJP, TMC, CPI (M), and Congress. This mission is one of seven tasked with visiting 33 global capitals to highlight Pakistan’s links to terrorism.
