Tributes to freedom heroes: Madhu S Bangarappa

Millions of Indians sacrificed to free the country from foreign rule. The district in-charge Minister, Madhu S Bangarappa, paid tribute to these freedom fighters during the 78th Independence Day celebrations at DAR Maidan. He stated that the freedom achieved today is due to the efforts of leaders such as Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Subhash Chandra Bose, Rani Chennamma, Belavadi Mallamma, and Sangolli Rayanna. Bangarappa expressed regret over the loss of five brave soldiers from Essur who became martyrs during the struggle.

The district has produced many notable figures, including four Chief Ministers, among them his father, SBangarappa. This year's rainfall has been above normal, filling all state reservoirs and benefiting farmers. However, heavy rains have caused damage to people, livestock, and homes. The Deputy Commissioner has been instructed to provide assistance to those affected by the damage.

Efforts are underway to repair 294 damaged schools, Anganwadis, other buildings, roads, and bridges. Plans are in place to start 41 KPS schools in the district. From the 2023-24 period, free electricity and clean drinking water will be provided to all government schools in the state.

The event was attended by local officials, including MP BY Raghavendra, MLAs Channabasappa, Araga Jnanendra, Sharada Pooryanayka, MLCs Balkis Banu, Dhananjaya Sarji, Deputy Commissioner Gurudatta Hegde, District Superintendent of Police Mithun Kumar, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer N Hemant, students, and the public.
