Winter Session-2024: All set for a smooth session, says DC Roshan

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan announced that thorough preparations have been made to ensure the smooth conduct of the ongoing Belagavi Winter Session 2024. Addressing a press meet at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha, he provided details of the extensive arrangements.

To accommodate MLAs, ministers, officers, and staff, 2,756 rooms have been secured in private hotels, guesthouses, and tourist resorts. Additionally, eight public canteens with paid meal services and 38 stalls for various organizations, including women’s self-help groups, have been set up.

Internet connectivity at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha has been strengthened with support from BSNL and private providers. Transport facilities include vehicles sourced from multiple districts, with accommodations for drivers at DTI, Sports Hostel, and Ambedkar Bhavan. An online portal has been launched for issuing entry passes to the public and staff.

A special photo exhibition, ‘Gandhi’s India’, marking the centenary of Mahatma Gandhi’s leadership at the 1924 Congress session, is being held at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha. Additional cultural programs such as discussions, speeches, and short films are being organized for schoolchildren.

Decorative Mysore Dasara-style lamps will illuminate 30 key city circles starting December 9. Meanwhile, a newly developed Science Park near Suvarna Vidhana Soudha, designed for interactive learning, is ready for its launch.

Addressing potential disruptions, Deputy Commissioner Roshan stated that discussions were held with protest groups, some of whom agreed to withdraw their demonstrations. Police Commissioner Yada Martin Marbanyang confirmed receiving 55 protest applications. Over 6,000 police personnel have been deployed for security, with accommodations and food arrangements in place.
