The decision made by the state cabinet to impose double the penalty on buildings constructed without local body permits and in violation of regulations within the BBMP jurisdiction has received the governor's approval, and objections are being invited. An official order regarding this will be issued within a month.

This information was provided by Municipal Administration and Haj Minister Rahim Khan during a press conference following a progress review meeting with local authority officials in Yadgiri city. He indicated that residential and commercial buildings constructed without obtaining permits from local bodies have not been registered with the city council, resulting in a tax collection rate of less than 50%. He emphasized that to benefit from the 15th Finance Commission, a minimum of 50% tax collection is necessary.

He stated that since basic infrastructure must be provided from tax collections, development activities of local bodies are facing challenges. He also mentioned that opportunities for a one-time settlement will be made available for various issues.

Regarding allegations of creating fake documents to sell plots under the Ashraya scheme, a committee has been formed to investigate, and a report will be submitted soon. Actions will be taken based on the findings, he answered queries from reporters. He instructed the relevant authorities present to issue notices and take action against buildings that have encroached on parks or evaded taxes, in accordance with Supreme Court orders. He also advised that when developing new layouts, protective measures should be implemented, including fencing the areas reserved for parks.
