Two Arrested After Attempt to Rob ATM

In a swift action, Bellary police arrested two men who attempted to rob an SBI Bank ATM located on Talur Road in the city. District Superintendent of Police Dr. Shobharani confirmed the arrests at a press conference.

The accused, J. Avinash (27) and K.G. Shivaraj (29), had tried to steal cash from an ATM between 10 pm on July 30 and 6 am on July 31. They broke the glass wall of the ATM kiosk and damaged two CCTV cameras before attempting to open the machine. However, seeing people nearby, they panicked and fled without taking any money.

The incident came to light the next morning, and a case was filed at the Bellary Rural Police Station. To investigate, five special teams were formed under the leadership of Additional SP K.P. Ravikumar, DSPs Dr. Santosh Chavan and Nandereddy. Within 30 hours, the police tracked down and arrested the suspects.

The investigation team included officers and staff from Bellary Rural and City Police Stations. Technical evidence helped identify the culprits. The police also seized the vehicle and tools used in the attempted robbery.

SP Dr. Shobharani praised the coordinated efforts of all officers involved and assured that strict action will be taken against those involved in criminal activities. The quick arrest highlights the police department’s efficiency and commitment to maintaining public safety.
