Tobacco shops raided

The District Tobacco Control Cell, on behalf of the District Tobacco Control Cell, visited the shops of tobacco products sellers in urban areas on Friday and imposed fines on them.

The youth are increasingly getting addicted to tobacco. Due to this, the youth are becoming the main cause of death in the society. A tobacco campaign was conducted to inform the youth and shop owners that they are the main cause of death in the society and to create awareness among the public and public places against smoking, chewing tobacco and smoking.

It was directed to put up boards under relevant sections-4, 6A and 6B and 7 cases were registered under section-4 and a fine of Rs. 750 was imposed, 02 cases were registered under section-6A and a fine of Rs 250 fine and 10 cases were registered under Section-6B and Rs 1,000 fine was collected.

The officers of the district level investigation team, District Tobacco Control Cell District Advisor BM Prabhudeva, Social Worker KM Thippeswamy, Senior Health Inspectors of the District Survey Unit C Vishwa, L Venkatesh, MH Manjunath were present in the tobacco raid.
