BENGALURU
Home Minister G Parameshwar on Friday addressed concerns over a recent incident in Dakshina Kannada, assuring the public that the government is taking the matter seriously and will not tolerate such events. Speaking near Sadashivanagara residence, he emphasized the district’s reputation as a model for economic growth and education, urging for peace and cooperation.
Parameshwar noted that strict action has been ordered and acknowledged the need to change officers involved, saying, “We will not sit idly by.” Responding to calls from BJP leader Dinesh to reinstate an in-charge official, he firmly declined, citing the district’s distance and the discretion of responsibility.
Regarding a recent meeting between Congress leader BK Hariprasad and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Parameshwar downplayed its significance, calling it a courtesy visit and suggested any discussion about the Mangalore incident should be directed to local leaders.
He also responded to criticism from Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy, stating that as opposition members, such remarks are expected. Parameshwar assured that no part of the state is being neglected, and the government is actively investigating the causes of recent crimes. He vowed to uncover the root causes and reiterated that the administration will not remain silent or inactive under any circumstance.
“We must curb provocative speeches. Otherwise, it will be difficult. It is important to maintain peace in society. We have given all the directions for that,” Parameshwara said.
