Due to the electrification work on the railway line between Sakaleshpur-Subrahmanya Road section, daytime train services between Mangalore and Bengaluru have been temporarily suspended for about 154 days from June 1 to November 1, according to a South Western Railway release.
Train number 16539 Yeshwantpur-Mangalore Junction weekly Gommateshwar Express, which runs every Saturday from May 31 to November 1, will be cancelled.
Train number 16540 Mangalore Junction - Yeshwantpur Weekly Express train running on Sundays is cancelled from June 1 to November 2.
Train number 16575 Yeshwantpur -Mangalore Junction Tri-Weekly Express train, which runs on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, will be closed from June 1 to August 30.
Train number 16576 Mangalore- Yeshwantpur Tri-Weekly Express, which runs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from June 2 to August 31, has been suspended.
Train No. 16515 Yeshwantpur-Karwar Tri-Weekly Express, which runs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from June 2 to October 31, and train No. 16516 Karwar-Yeshwantpur Tri-Weekly Express, which runs on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from June 3 to November 1, will be cancelled.
South Western Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Manjunath Kanamadi said, our first priority is to carry out electrification work between Sakaleshpur-Subrahmanya Road sections. If electrification is already done in all parts but not in one part, the purpose of this project will not be fulfilled. Although it is a little difficult for the passengers now, it will benefit them a lot in the future, he said.
Even if there is a little problem with the work during the rainy season, our aim is to complete the work within the stipulated time. Electrical train engines will arrive soon, and the electrification work in this area needs to be completed to use them, South Western Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Manjunath Kanamadi said.
